“Federico Fellini finally has his own museum in ‘his’ Rimini; a widespread museum, as on the other hand is ‘pulviscular’ his cinematographic aesthetic that has never abandoned its local traits, without ever, however, renouncing to speak to the world”.
For this reason, at the Venice Biennale, the Fellini Museum project was awarded the national IN/ARCHITETTURA 2023 prize, promoted by IN/ARCH Istituto Nazionale di Architettura and ANCE, in collaboration with Archilovers. The Fellini Museum received one of the five national prizes selected in the category “interventions of building redevelopment (restoration, renovation, regeneration)” where the jury examined hundreds of projects taking into account that they were conceived as the result of a complex process involving all the steps of the production chain and celebrating the value of the built work, seen as the outcome of the participation of different players: from the client to entrepreneurs, from component manufacturers to designers.
The Award is a plaque to the work and its main protagonists, as a result of the synergy behind its realisation. The IN/ARCH awards have a long and prestigious tradition. Since their first edition in 1962, they have been playing an important role in the national architectural debate celebrating the value of the built work and clearly stating that the quality of an architecture is not limited to aesthetic-linguistic issues but is the outcome of a complex process.
The award at the Venice Biennale was received by the Mayor of Rimini, Jamil Sadegholvaad, together with the Head of the Facility Management department, Chiara Fravisini, and the designer, Orazio Carpenzano: “An important recognition,” said the Mayor at the award ceremony, “for an extraordinary architectural creation, which is not an end in itself, but interprets the collective desire to embark on a development path that marks a cultural and social change in the city.
The Fellini Museum is an example of civic architecture that returns a space to the community, where accessibility and beauty go hand in hand. A unique museum in the world, dedicated to Fellini’s films and their impact on the history of cinema, customs and society, not only in Italy but all over the world”.
