On October 7th at 15:00, the annual event of the Genova Smart City Association will take place, providing an opportunity to explore the latest trends and developments in city digitalization and innovative technologies.

The conference, Smart Transformation: Digitalization and Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Cities, will be held at Banca Bper in Piazza De Ferrari (via Cassa di Risparmio 15, Genoa) and will feature prominent speakers.

During the afternoon panel Education and Training: Foundations of Smart Cities, Giorgio Genta will participate and demonstrate how ETT is leveraging emerging technologies to transform training and skills development within Smart Cities. His speech will focus on the role of innovative tools such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), which enable interactive and immersive approaches in various fields, enhancing learning and professional training. In particular, he will illustrate the advantages of these technologies in education, safety, and the cultural sector.

Among the main projects Genta will discuss is the STEP platform – Smart Education Platform, developed by ETT, which offers advanced and personalized training paths, already successfully implemented in the training of Merchant Marine officers. Another example will be the use of immersive simulation systems for fire safety training at the Pietra Ligure Hospital, a project that has improved hospital staff preparedness in emergency situations.

Additionally, Genta will discuss the potential of the metaverse in enhancing cultural heritage, citing the META DEPOT project, a virtual exhibition developed by ETT for CTE Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti that has made artworks from the Oriental Art Museum and the Ligurian Archaeology Museum accessible in a digital and interactive format.
