The secrets of the San Gennaro treasure told by Philippe Daverio

Museum Masterpieces in Augmented Reality

The new Multimedia Guide is a multilingual interactive mobile app that guides the visitor to discover the Museum’s treasures and curiosities related to the history of San Gennaro. It uses the unmistakable voice of Philippe Daverio, the internationally renowned Italian intellectual and television face.

Innovating the visitor experience of one of the most visited museums in Italy

The app has an interactive approach, providing information with an engaging storytelling.
Inside the museum, several points of interest (POIs) are located, geolocalised and tracked through the use of Beacons used as an orientation system for users who interact with the app, locating the visitor along the tour route and proposing content dedicated to the different POIs, allowing them to easily find their way around the Treasury’s wonders.
In addition to audio tracks enriched by an original musical mood and a gallery of details of the works on display, the Multimedia Guide also presents in-depth contents activated in Augmented Reality that integrate information on some of the works housed in the Museum of the Treasure of St. Gennaro in a new and immediate way.

The usable app is designed to be enjoyed remotely and on site. With a total of 20 points of interest (artefacts, jewellery and paintings on display), it presents in-depth features including text, photos, descriptive audioguide, and, at the end of the visit, Augmented Reality content. In addition, the iBeacon system will automatically activate the audio guide (ITA/ENG) for each work, during the tour.

In 1527, the pact between the city of Naples and the patron saint was driven by an innovative ferment that made it possible to make two abstract entities active parties to the contract: the people and the saint. A virtual projection of faith at a time when technology could suggest no other way. Today, the sense of innovation, respect and tradition is renewed by contemporary means in that same pact.
