A detailed and emotional historical reconstruction that turns the visit into a journey through time

ETT, in collaboration with WAY Experience for the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona – Mantua – Pavia, has designed the multimedia exhibition path for The Battle of Pavia, February 24, 1525: The Times, Places, and Men, hosted at the Visconti Castle of Pavia from February 15 to December 29, 2025.

The exhibition blends technology and storytelling to engage visitors in an immersive journey through the history of the battle.

The visit unfolds across several experiential sections. On the ground floor, in the grand Sala del Rivellino, visitors are greeted by the two key figures of the battle: Charles V and Francis I. Thanks to AI-powered talking avatars, the two commanders introduce themselves in the first person and lead the narration, creating an emotional connection with the audience.

At the back of the hall, a 48-square-meter video projection recounts the siege and the crucial phases of the battle, while four interactive touch stations allow visitors to explore additional content through images and explanatory texts.

On the first floor, in the Sala della Torre, visitors can explore some of the weapons used in the battle through augmented reality. Interactive tablets provide a 3D view of armor, a cannon, and the famous arquebus, allowing them to be rotated, enlarged, and virtually materialized in the space. Informative panels and video interviews with curators further delve into 16th-century warfare and the battle’s impact on the European landscape.

In the Sala del Collezionista, the video projection The Battle in Art illustrates how the battle influenced artistic production of the time. Among the most significant works are the seven Flemish tapestries housed at the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, which depict key moments of the battle, alongside more than 20 paintings presented and described in a spectacular way.

To complete the experience, visitors can step into the battlefield through virtual reality. By wearing VR headsets, they find themselves immersed in the thick of battle—amidst opposing armies, the first cannon and arquebus shots, and the tense atmosphere of one of history’s defining conflicts.
