From October 24 to November 3, 2024, RAISE will participate in the Genoa Science Festival with a significant and innovative presence through the Immersive Room and RAISE Village, offering the public a unique experience to discover advanced technologies and innovative projects related to the city of the future.

The Immersive Room in the RAISE Ecosystem

Installed at the portico of the Palazzo Ducale from Oct. 24 to Nov. 3, the immersive room will be one of the Festival’s main attractions. This multimedia space featuring wall-mounted multiprojections is designed to take visitors on an interactive journey through the cities, healthcare, environment and ports of the future, themes central to the 5 spoke of the RAISE project. Accompanying visitors on this journey will be the robots Pepper and R1.
The journey begins with Pepper introducing the themes covered by the project’s various spokes, with an invitation to explore how technological solutions can transform urban life. Following this, the video evolves with more detailed explanations, alternating moments in which Pepper and R1 illustrate concrete projects, and ending with an invitation to visit RAISE Village and prepare for Robot Valley 2025.

RAISE Village in Palazzo Ducale

From Oct. 26 to Nov. 3, the RAISE Village, an exhibition and interactive area spread over two floors, will be set up at Cisterne in Palazzo Ducale:

  • First Floo:
    • Educational Area: a space designed for schools and events, with tables and information lightboxes.
    • Reception: a welcome desk that will orient visitors to the main areas.
    • Information Monitors: a lightbox that will project the daily program.
  • Lower Floor:
    • Area Spoke: dedicated to the various RAISE spokes (1-4), with information stations.
    • Area Demo: with banners and a ring for robotic demonstrations.
    • Area Talk: a space dedicated to presentations, talks and projections.

Key eventis of the RAISE project

October 25 at 5:00 pm – RAISE: Towards the Future of Innovation. Results and prospects of the Liguria ecosystem

The opening event of the RAISE project will be held in the prestigious Sala del Maggior Consiglio in Palazzo Ducale, officially opening the participation in the Festival of Science 2024.

During the meeting, RAISE will illustrate how initial ideas and hypotheses are evolving into innovative solutions serving cities, healthcare, the environment and ports. It will be an opportunity to hear from researchers who will present their results to date, with a focus on the development of robotics and artificial intelligence projects, as well as the technology transfer process that is transforming these innovations into concrete tools for the local area.

In the second part of the conference, experts in the field will discuss the future prospects of the RAISE ecosystem, reflecting on how the technologies developed can act as an engine of innovation for Liguria, proposing the territory as a national reference model for the use of knowledge and advanced technologies.

October 26 at 5:00 p.m. – The City of the Future: Accessible, Inclusive, Interactive

Event as part of RAISE’s Spoke 1, will feature Susanna Alloisio, senior project manager at ETT.

During the talk, the RAISE portal dashboard, an innovative tool that collects urban data from open-data sources and the Urban Data Platform and makes it accessible to citizens through a Map Viewer, will be presented. The goal is to improve the accessibility of cities and engage citizens in building an inclusive urban environment.
In addition, from 2 p.m. participants will have the opportunity to test the HTS system, a technology that measures hand motor skills with sensorized gloves connected to a notebook, creating an initial dataset for future analysis in total anonymity.

October 28 – RAISE UP Poster & Robotic Demos

A day dedicated to innovators, entrepreneurs and managers who want to learn about the 12 innovative solutions selected for the RAISE UP program, aimed at supporting cutting-edge entrepreneurial projects. During the day, there will be robotic demonstrations and training sessions for participants. This will be an exclusive opportunity to see the technologies developed by RAISE in action and discover the potential of the solutions presented.

HTS has also been selected for the “RAISE UP!” mentorship program, and the audience and program participants will have the opportunity to understand features and potential of the device during the thematic day.

October 31 – Citizen Science Demo and Test

In this event, RAISE’s Spoke 3 will present various Citizen Science tools to engage the public in environmental and urban data collection. Antonio Novellino, R&D Smart and Sustainable City Manager, and Giulia Dapueto, R&D PM, will introduce participants to technologies such as water and air sampling sensors, multiparameter probes, and portable microscopes for environmental analysis. Mobile applications that allow citizens to report data in real time will also be available, contributing to more informed and participatory urban management.
