From May 7, 2019 to May 30, 2021, Palazzo Grimani will host the exceptional exhibition, Domus Grimani 1594 – 2019, which celebrates, after more than four centuries, the return to Palazzo Grimani of the collection of classical statues belonging to the Patriarch of Aquileia Giovanni Grimani.

The exhibition opens today – 7 May 2019 – and will be open until 30 May 2021. Produced by Civita Tre Venezie, the operation is sponsored by the Veneto Region and is carried out in collaboration with UNESCO. Edited by ETT a project to complete and enhance the path.

The focus of DOMUS GRIMANI 1594 – 2019 is the reconstruction of one of the most significant episodes of European museology – the Tribune of the Patriarch Giovanni, still intact in its architectural structure – accompanied by the display of furniture and works in the previous rooms, with the intent to recreate the decoration of an aristocratic residence of the sixteenth century and thus restore to visitors the atmosphere of a place that, thanks to this project, returns to the forefront of the Venetian cultural offer through an installation inspired by the aesthetics of the “”house-museum””.

Palazzo Grimani also relives through a project created in collaboration with ETT: Wearing Virtual Reality viewers (oculus Go)t, the rooms will reveal hidden details: it will be possible to admire other statues inside the Tribune – including the Galatians that Patriarch Giovanni had placed on the floor – or the statues that adorned the courtyard until the 19th century. Furthermore, to further enrich the visit, a totem placed at the entrance of the path shows texts and new images of the building and the garden.
