The prestigious National Geographic NAT GEO Award for the Best Pitch was presented during the MIA, for the documentary “DarkSide, the quest for dark matter detection” made by VIS (Virtual Immersion in Science), an innovative start up and also a spin off of the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, of which ETT is a part.
As part of the event, the documentary was awarded the winning prize for the One-Off category as part of the Nat Geo Award section, sponsored by National Geographic. The documentary, directed by Matias Guerra and Matteo Corbi, talks about the future detector of Dark Matter, which will be built under 1400 metres of rock in the Gran Sasso National Laboratory. Also there to collect the award, was the Scientific Director of VIS, Marcos Valdes (Darkside video)
National Geographic had this to say about the documentary: “An authoritative international project with the contribution of influential experts, like Canadian Nobel Prizewinner, Art McDonald and Italian scientist Giuliana Fiorillo. An expert scientific team for an Italian documentary with an international flavour, which falls perfectly within the narrative spirit of our brand”.
