ETT and Space sign agreement for integrated restyling of signage for monumental complex

For the first time, the entire complex of the Royal Palace of Caserta — from the Royal Palace to the Park, from the English Garden to Piazza Carlo di Borbone — has been the subject of a unified and coordinated intervention on permanent communication.

The project had a specific objective: to transform signage into a cultural, informative, narrative and educational system capable of integrating with the architecture and history of the Royal Palace, while at the same time appealing to a contemporary audience.

The project adopts a coordinated visual language and a system of diversified analogue and digital media: banners, information panels, plaques, totems, and multimedia display cases.
The graphics have been completely redesigned, with the introduction of gold as a distinctive element, paying homage to the splendour of the palace’s decorations. This new visual language accompanies visitors on a journey through the extraordinary Baroque and Neoclassical rooms of the Royal Palace, offering unique content and insights: from historical iconography recounting the Bourbons to the monumental flora of the famous Royal Park with its spectacular waterfalls and fountains, from thematic stories about the royal residences to a focus on the precious original furnishings of Vanvitelli’s palace.

The new signage, distributed throughout the UNESCO site, serves several purposes: orientation, information, regulations, narration, and safety.
Banners, panels, multimedia totems, digital notice boards, metal lecterns, directional signs and a CMS system for real-time information updates have been installed. Each element has been designed to fit coherently and discreetly into the monumental context.

An immersive journey through places and content

Upon entering Piazza Carlo di Borbone, visitors are greeted by 18 iconographic banners introducing the themes of the visit: historical figures, artistic masterpieces, park flora, and contemporary collections.
Beyond the gates, panels and totems guide the public through the courtyards and outdoor paths, with maps, regulations, thematic narration, and references to the main points of interest.

In the Perspective Telescope and in the courtyards of the Palace, totems and information kiosks communicate regulations, current events and service information, updated via CMS.
Along the route, 10 panels illustrate the protagonists of the history of the Reggia and the salient features of the site.
Eleven tripartite totems guide visitors and also indicate less visible areas such as the Court Theatre and services.

Inside the Royal Palace, 49 golden infographic totems accompany visitors on their tour, from the Royal Apartments to the King and Queen’s private quarters, and on to the Court Theatre. The content includes descriptions of the rooms, focusing on furnishings and decorations, with references to QR codes and audio guides.

In the Royal Park and English Garden, signage is widespread and integrated into the landscape.
Stone markers describe over 40 monumental plant species; metal lecterns illustrate fountains, buildings and historical views; more than 120 directional arrows mark out the paths through the greenery.
Two 75″ multimedia display cases and numerous digital totems provide real-time updates on events, regulations and schedules, thanks to a centralised CMS system.

The recently restored MOM wing has been equipped with an outdoor monitor and infographic panels that guide visitors on their discovery of the Grand Gallery, the bookshop and the educational workshop areas.
