PRO-SIT

Digitalisation And Sustainable Building Certification

A project for the Digitalization and Certification of Building Sustainability

PRO-SIT / Sustainable design: Qualification and Certification (Progettare in Sostenibilità: Qualificazione e Certificazione) is a project to digitise and certify Sustainable Building. PRO-SIT is a cutting-edge platform which integrates the most recent webGIS, IoT and BigData techniques and that, by developing methodologies and procedures, offers solutions to assess, quantify, characterise and certify sustainability and quality in the building industry.

The design activities are structured into four research lines that individually focus on social, economic, and environmental themes, capable of mutually integrating and complementing each other based on the project’s objectives.:

  • Methodologies and tools for assessing the sustainability of the construction supply chain
  • Development and Characterization of Sustainable Materials and Solutions for Construction, Including ID Tracking Technologies
  • Development of a BIM Methodology for Sustainable Design and Existing Asset Management
  • Development of Procedures and Technologies for Sustainable Industrialization in Building Regeneration.

On the other hand, research activities are characterized and planned with respect to two particular parameters:

  • The scale of the studied object: from the material, to the component, to the structural system, up to the building as a whole;
  • The time scale within the lifecycle of the studied object: from material or component production, to its construction, installation, use, and ultimately its disposal.

By intersecting these factors, we will proceed with an integrated approach that will allow us to identify specific focuses within the construction supply chain, unique aspects, and key moments of the numerous processes investigated in construction. Activities will be conducted in the areas of environmental, economic, and social sustainability. In detail, the demonstrative activities, through constant collaboration with the Municipality of Naples, concern a portion of the former Corradini area in the working-class district of San Giovanni a Teduccio. The design objective is the validation of integrated BIM-BASED design methodologies and tools in relation to a paradigmatic case study of the widespread need for sustainable redevelopment of public industrial building heritage.
