NEFFIE – Photographic Neuroaesthetics: an experiential and experimental workshop in which Photography, Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, NFT and Metaverse come together

NEFFIE, designed by the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele and the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele, consists of a technological platform that processes the emotional and cognitive responses of the viewer in front of a chosen image, through the use of specific biosensors and an artificial intelligence algorithm, transforming the experience into a participatory artwork.

ETT recreated a virtual exhibition space for Neffie’s digital works in which users interact in real time through their avatars. In this way, it is possible to access a unique collective confrontation space and interact with other users without the constraints of physical presence.

Specifically, the virtual environment designed by ETT on the Spatial.io platform allows an immersive enjoyment of NEFFIE’s digital works, enriched by the possibility of interacting in real time with other visitors through their avatars: up to 50 users can move freely among the works, communicating with each other through the activation of microphones and webcams.

Accessible through a link from one’s own desktop, IOS or Android smartphone, or Virtual Reality visor, the new Metaverse is configured as a “real time” experiential laboratory that gives life to renewed immersive, interactive and inclusive creative horizons, configuring itself as a new way of accessing the world of art in the 21st century, capable of generating an increasingly widespread and shared awareness of our neuro-aesthetic experiences and thus contributing to the Health of the Human Being understood as a state of physical, emotional and relational Well-Being.
