Mantenance and Management for the protection of the Archaeological Heritage of high attendance
MAGA projects aims at testing and promoting innovative maintenance services for archaeological areas through digital techologies and a participative approach. Funded under the PNRR Missione 4, Componente 2, Investimento 1.5 – “Ecosistemi dell’Innovazione” and coordinated by ETT along with STRESS Scarl e l’Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, MAGA develops a mobile app and a web platform to support managers of archaeological sites in monitoring, programming and planning maintenance activities.
The purpose is to move away from reactive towards pro-active approaches, adopting preventive maintenance strategies and participatory models supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology-based reward systems (NFT).
Through the experimentation in the “Scavi Romani di Montegrotto Terme”, the pilot site, the project promotes the creatio of “context-aware communities”, involving citizens, tourists and managers in the shared care of cultural heritage. The integration between alerts from users, automatic fault recognition and the dedicated interface for managers enable efficient management of maintenance activities reducing costs, time and environmental impacts.
MAGA represents a virtuous case of AI application in culture sector that connects technological innovation, sustainability and heritage in a shared and replicable strategy.
