DeA Cupra Digital and Art: technology and culture transform Cupra Marittima into a cutting-edge tourist destination

An app to discover the area through 3D reconstructions and visors to immerse oneself in the archaeological finds, as well as a new logo for the brand identity of Cupra Marittima: with ‘DeA Cupra Digital and Art’, art meets digital and history races towards the future.

The municipality’s innovative project aimed at enhancing and promoting the area aims to make the town in the Marche region a cultural capital and a competitive, innovative and sustainable tourist destination.

The aim is to make Cupra Marittima’s artistic heritage more accessible and attractive. With the use of digital tools and new forms of communication, we expand our ability to tell the story of our territory, multiplying the opportunities of discovery and knowledge for visitors and attracting different targets of tourists.

The DeA Cupra app narrates the points of interest of three tourist itineraries: Archaeological Park, Borgo di Marano and Piazza della Libertà with a focus on the works of art preserved in the Church of San Basso. The points of interest are georeferenced and feature multimedia images, descriptions and in-depth information. At two of these ‘points’ it will also be possible to see 3D reconstructions in augmented reality: the first is the head of the goddess Cupra visible from all perspectives; the second is the residential room with the fresco of a woman on a red background found at the archaeological site.

In addition, two Virtual Reality stations will be set up, one at the Civita Archaeological Park infopoint and one at the Archaeological Museum of the Territory.
Wearing a visor, it will be possible to admire a video of Cupra and its great historical and cultural heritage, made with a drone for 360° shots and with ground stations. Another visor will instead allow the user, thanks to Matterport technology, to take a virtual tour inside the Archaeological Park.

Finally, to make Cupra Marittima’s brand identity more recognisable and spendable, a new logo has been designed, represented by the face of the goddess Cupra outlined by pixels. Numerous communication activities were also implemented, including a tourist brochure with all the peculiarities of the territory.
