Leonardo’s Stories and Itineraries
13 stories made up of texts, images and 360° contents accompany you on your discovery of the world of the Last Supper: from Milan in the time of Leonardo and the Sforza family to the 15th century Santa Maria delle Grazie, the copies and derivations of the Supper, its iconography, execution technique and conservation history up to the first ideas for setting up the Museum. In this section, with Scoprisegno and Scoprirestauro, an initial interaction with the Last Supper also becomes possible: by scrolling through the details of the work with your fingers, you can discover Leonardo’s preparatory drawings and compare the various restoration operations. In addition to the stories, the app also features a section entitled ‘Leonardo’s Itineraries‘, to get around Leonardo’s Milan independently. An interactive map shows 15 points of interest that the user can select: for each one, in addition to a storytelling complete with text and images, there is a link to the relevant institutional page.
Spectacular augmented reality
Multimedia design using augmented reality is the perfect tool for the spectacularisation of the work. An additional narrative layer anchors the Last Supper, revealing invisible mechanisms and bringing attention to details without breaking eye contact. The relationship with visitors is kept alive, intimate and exciting: AR remains clear, crisp, perfect with every movement of the visitor in the room.
The Augmented Reality experiences allow for an even deeper understanding of the work, keeping the relationship with it alive and intimate: visitors will be able to move freely throughout the Refectory, getting closer to better observe the details or moving away to have the Cenacolo in its entirety before their eyes. Three augmented reality experiences can be enjoyed by visitors: the first two, which are accessed automatically after listening to the POI – Point of Interest entitled “A powerful theatrical machine” bring to attention the perspective details of the work and the figures of the apostles. A third experience is dedicated to Donato Montorfano’s Crucifixion, a fresco in front of it. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
Family & Children Route
In order to accompany even the youngest children in their first encounter with the figure of Leonardo, a children’s section has been added to the visitor’s route, with six games to deepen their knowledge of the history of art connected with the Last Supper while having fun. With Un po’ di storia and Scopriamo il Cenacolo, children will hear the story of the Last Supper told by Leonardo da Vinci himself. With Colour Me, they will have to observe the work carefully and then colour in the missing parts on their smartphones. With Indovina Chi, placed in front of details of the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, they will have to guess whether the author of that detail is Leonardo or Donato Montorfano. In the artist’s workshop, they will be able to express themselves freely by drawing and colouring with the same colours used by Leonardo, and in the puzzle section they can have fun reconstructing four other works by the artist: the Annunciation, the Baptism of Christ, the Virgin of the Rocks and the Mona Lisa.
