The beginning of a journey to discover Saluzzo and its history, its museums and main monuments as a preview of its cultural contents
Located at the entrance to the visitor route and in the ticket office, on the ground floor of the 16th-century tower that dominates the city from the top of the hill, La Castiglia intends to create curiosity and stimulate the desire to learn about Monviso’s heritage and Lands by exploiting technological elements to support the narrative.
By welcoming visitors, it introduces them to the city’s beauties, briefly narrates the complex history of the building, and provides a small preview of the cultural contents that it now houses in such a way as to anticipate the contents of the cultural hub even before choosing one’s tour route.
ETT has set up the new introductory section for visiting the Castiglia of Saluzzo, also using technological elements to support the narrative to enhance the imposing historical building as well as the entire area, the city and its monuments.
Welcoming visitors begins from the outside, with a full-wall illustration evoking the majesty of Castiglia. The curved walls of the first room, the tower, feature verses and phrases dedicated by great literary figures (Silvio Pellico, Francesco Petrarca, Geoffrey Chaucer) to the City of Saluzzo and, at the upper part up to the vault, are animated by a three-section immersive projection. A 360-degree drone flight over the city, sequences of the monuments and images of the Castiglia’s halls and the exhibition routes it houses within follow a compelling storytelling that complements the video with a narrator’s voice and a specially composed background soundtrack.
In the next room, which houses three display cases containing three-dimensional models of the Castiglia, backlit graphic panels accompany the tour of discovery of Saluzzo and its most distinctive monument. A large illustration of the cityscape and its main monuments introduces the panels presenting the Castiglia, its history and current use as the home of three important exhibition venues: the Museum of Prison Memory, theFondazione Garuzzoand theMuseum of the Chivalric Civilization.
