A vibrant portrait of contemporary Lucanian culture around the world
Inside the Castello di Lagopesole, the Museo dell’Emigrazione Lucana presents the new multimedia room “Basilicatë”, a space that tells the story of Lucanian identity through the experiences of communities in New York, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo. The project explores the diverse forms that Lucanian culture has taken abroad, offering visitors a vivid and international perspective on traditions, rituals, and daily life.
ETT designed and realized the exhibition, integrating technological and design solutions to guide visitors through an immersive and dynamic experience. The project included the production and integration of video narratives, interactive content, and digital contributions collected directly from Lucanian communities abroad, as well as the visual consistency and design of functional areas such as the conference room, ticket office, and digital archive.
Through this approach, Basilicatë actively valorizes Lucanian cultural heritage and fosters dialogue between territories and generations, offering an experience that combines memory, innovation, and audience participation.
The room takes visitors on a journey between past and present, beginning with the farewell to family members and continuing through scenes that evoke the lives of Lucanian migrants in their destinations abroad. Video narratives, testimonies, and digital contributions create an immersive, multilingual experience that bridges history and everyday life, tradition and contemporary reality. Each element is designed to highlight the cultural plurality of Lucanians worldwide and to show how overseas communities have influenced and reinterpreted their identity, transmitting it through language, rituals, and daily practices. The spaces are arranged to provide a compelling and participatory experience, with functional areas such as a conference room and digital archive allowing visitors to deepen their understanding of Lucanian culture. The combination of multimedia content, images, testimonies, and digitized memories produces a coherent and engaging narrative, where historical memory intersects with the contemporary international presence of Lucanians around the world.
