On 3 March, ETT participated in the event ‘Mediterranean Pact, From Territories to Cities – The Shared Transition Agenda’, hosted at the European Parliament in Brussels, contributing its expertise on marine data and services for the blue economy together with the SHARE4MED project.
The initiative is part of the Pact for the Mediterranean, launched at the end of 2025 by the European Commission with the aim of building a common, secure, prosperous and resilient Mediterranean area, strengthening cooperation between the European Union and the countries of the southern Mediterranean. The Pact aims to consolidate relations between territories and communities, promoting mobility and skills, and to support sustainable economic growth based on green tech and renewable energy.
Best practices between EU and non-EU countries
ETT took part in the session entitled ‘EU – non-EU best practices: feedback from projects and initiatives’, dedicated to sharing best practices and experiences gained in European programmes and territorial cooperation.
The workshop brought together experts from EU and non-EU countries in the Mediterranean area, with a bottom-up approach aimed at making a concrete contribution to the Pact through discussion of the results and models of collaboration developed within initiatives such as LIFE, EMFAF, NEXTMED and S3 Partnership.
Representing ETT, Antonio Novellino – Market Line Manager Smart City – illustrated projects and initiatives in which the company is involved, with particular reference to the management and analysis of marine data and the development of digital services for the blue economy, strategic tools to support informed decisions, sustainable planning and the enhancement of coastal resources.
The contribution of SHARE4MED
Among the projects presented, a central role was given to SHARE4MED, an Interreg NEXT MED project in which ETT is the Lead Partner.
The initiative aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of Mediterranean municipalities in Italy, Algeria and Tunisia in planning and managing policies and interventions related to environmental sustainability, with a specific focus on the protection and monitoring of the seas.
Participation in the event provided an opportunity for strategic discussion with institutional and local stakeholders, confirming ETT’s commitment to promoting models of Mediterranean cooperation based on digital innovation, data interoperability and the sustainable development of blue economies.
