An Open Library collecting the sound tracks of the underwater landscape in the seas
Human activities, if unregulated, are a major source of disturbance to the marine ecosystem. ECOSS – European Catalogue of Sound Signature intends to implement a common Open Source Database containing individual audio tracks for the classification of anthropogenic underwater sounds in the shallow and territorial seas within the EU exclusive economic zones.
The system will be equipped with Artificial Intelligence algorithm packages, the selection and training of which is entrusted to ETT, to handle complex or incomplete data and metadata and improve reliability parameters in sound source attributions for future recordings.
Its system infrastructure will be based on a network of existing databases and additional records organized to minimize any data gaps and provide a single point of access and retrieval of marine data derived from acoustic recordings made in the shallow waters of the EU.
