In October, Antonio Novellino participated in two key EMODnet project meetings in Brussels.
On October 7th, the 21st EMODnet Steering Committee Open Session was held, a crucial moment to discuss news, updates, and future events of the project.
On October 8th – with the attendance of the EMODnet Secretariat, and EMODnet Thematic and Data Ingestion, CINEA, EC DG MARE, DG ENV, DG DEFIS, DG RTD, JRC, and EEA coordinators – the 16th EMODnet Technical Working Group Meeting took place.
The TWG meeting mainly focused on technical matters related to data, information input, and the development of the Map Viewer, a crucial tool for data visualization. During the meeting, EMODnet MapViewer v3.3.0 was officially launched, featuring significant improvements, including smoother layer animations, support for Antarctic projection (EPSG:3031), and advanced filtering and accessibility options for metadata and download buttons.
Additionally, the meeting addressed other critical technical issues, such as updates on portal centralization and the development of the community connected to the Map Viewer usage, along with new metrics for data monitoring through GeoServer and ERDDAP.
