The Digital Ocean Forum (DOF) 2024, which will take place on June 13, 2024, at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels, is a high-level meeting where the prototype of the European Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) will be presented, as well as the contribution the DTO can make to the sustainable development of the Blue Economy and ocean resource management. The goal is to discuss and investigate how the DTO contributes to the implementation of the Green Deal and the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
This hybrid event, open to the public, will bring together experts from EMODnet e Copernicus Marine Service, policymakers, European projects, stakeholders, and interested citizens to participate in the co-design and co-creation of the European digital twin of the ocean. In addition to these two programs, in which ETT has long been involved, the projects OLAMUR, EFFECTIVE and SO-CHIC.

Announced at the One Ocean Summit in Brest in February 2022 by President Von der Leyen as part of the EU mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters”, the European digital twin of the ocean will open the doors to knowledge and its translation into action, serving as a digital co-creation space at the intersection of various disciplines. Its purpose is to provide ocean communities, citizens, coastal actors, scientists, and policymakers around the world with actionable insights and support them in their daily decision-making and planning to ensure a healthy and sustainable ocean.
