Virtual reality narrates the landscapes of Liguria in a multi-sensory journey through the art and life of the great Monet
After 135 years, three paintings of Claude Monet came back to the Bordighera and Dolceacqua Cities. The exhibition curator Aldo Jean Herlaut had showed the artist’s journey and experiences, explaining the lifestyle in the Liguria’s Coast between the 19th and 20th centuries.
To involve the public in the narrative, ETT set up the exhibition with various information videos, provided interactive touch screens and developed a virtual reality experience at the two exhibition venues, Villa Regina Margherita in Bordighera and Castello Doria in Dolceacqua. Video projections and immersive sound and light effects further contribute, within these two spectacular locations, to bring to life the emotions and sensations experienced by the artist in his contact with nature and the wonderful colours of the Riviera.
In both exhibition venues, which are the subject of a complementary set-up, a multimedia exhibition itinerary is proposed, illustrating the artist’s experience of his journey and stay on the Riviera.
Visitors will be able to explore the genesis of the works on display through the first-hand collection of letters to his family members, in particular his companion Alice, and his regular correspondents, such as the art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel. At the same time, the life and image of Bordighera and Dolceacqua are presented through paintings from the Civic Collection of Bordighera and precious photographic images of the time.
In addition to recounting the artist’s journey and experience, the exhibition explores and documents life on the Riviera in the late 19th and early 20th century.
