From 2 to 4 December 2025, Oran hosted the kick-off of the SHARE4MED project, a cross-border initiative involving Italy, Algeria and Tunisia with the aim of promoting sustainable solutions against erosion and in favour of protecting Mediterranean coastlines, in line with the principles of the EU Mission Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030.

The event included several days of in-depth analysis and discussion. On 2 December, as part of the International Conference on Energy Transition and Digitalisation in the Maritime Sector (ICEDTMS 2025), a joint workshop was held between the GREENMEDPORTS and SHARE4MED projects, while the following day, 3 December, saw the official kick-off of the project.

SHARE4MED, co-funded by the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, aims to consolidate and expand the Coalition of Mayors for the Ocean Mission through the development of a shared Shared Transition Agenda and an electronic Governance Dashboard for monitoring local policies.

ETT plays a key role as Lead Partner: it coordinates the project, manages communication and development of the Governance Dashboard, which will enable effective monitoring of actions to protect coastal areas, and supports project management and coordination activities between partners.

The project involves four partners from three countries: ETT (Italy), Université des Sciences et de la Technologie Mohamed-Boudiaf USTO Oran (Algeria), Association La Saison Bleue (Tunisia) and the Municipality of Genoa (Italy), with the support of Association Ecologique Barbarous (Algeria) and the Port System Authority of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea (Italy) as associates.

Among the planned actions is a pilot project to restore coastal habitats through the creation of an eco-friendly artificial barrier in Oran, with environmental and educational aims for children and young people as partners.

Through cross-border cooperation, SHARE4MED aims to improve local governance, promote shared monitoring and enable 10 Mediterranean municipalities to collaborate effectively through common tools and dashboards, multiplying the impact of their actions to protect the sea and inland waters.
