The event, titled <em>&#8220;Advancing the Democratisation of Ocean Science&#8221;<\/em>, marks the conclusion of a four-year initiative dedicated to technological innovation, marine observation, and open access to ocean data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a project partner, ETT contributed to the development of solutions for the<strong> collection, management, and dissemination of marine data<\/strong>, with a particular focus on interoperability and <a href=\"https:\/\/ettsolutions.com\/en\/design-for-all\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ettsolutions.com\/en\/design-for-all\/\">accessibilit<\/a>y. The conference will showcase NAUTILOS&#8217; key results, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Advanced sensor technologies<\/strong>: development of 18 sensors \u2014 14 of which are nearing commercialisation \u2014 designed to monitor critical ocean variables such as dissolved oxygen and microplastic pollution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Citizen science initiatives<\/strong>: launch of participatory campaigns, including the &#8220;Nautilos&#8221; app, the \u201cMarine Creatures\u201d project on Zooniverse, and the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/ettsolutions.com\/en\/progetti\/lgawarning-toxic-microalgae-monitoring\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ettsolutions.com\/en\/progetti\/lgawarning-toxic-microalgae-monitoring\/\">@lgaWarning<\/a>&#8221; app, aimed at engaging communities in ocean research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Open data access<\/strong>: the collected data is made available through the NAUTILOS Data Portal and integrated into<a href=\"https:\/\/ettsolutions.com\/en\/progetti\/emodnet-physics-european-marine-observation-data-network\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ettsolutions.com\/en\/progetti\/emodnet-physics-european-marine-observation-data-network\/\"> EMODnet<\/a>, providing real-time access to researchers and policy-makers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Training and skills development<\/strong>: two summer schools and nine e-learning modules have been organised to train young scientists and marine specialists on topics such as marine litter, international treaties, data management, and citizen science.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ETT<\/strong>\u2019s commitment is reflected in all the key outcomes achieved by the NAUTILOS project: the company <strong>procured and tested innovative sensors, developed the &#8220;@lgaWarning&#8221; application for monitoring harmful algal blooms, contributed to the education of future researchers by participating as a lecturer in both summer schools, and has managed and continues to coordinate EMODnet Physics, ensuring real-time access to oceanographic data<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ETT\u2019s involvement in NAUTILOS represents a step within a broader journey in the field of ocean observation and environmental data enhancement, one that continues through new European collaborations and initiatives focused on interoperability, citizen science, and the digital transition of the marine sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/events.teams.microsoft.com\/event\/063da2cf-9708-4184-acbf-b7cc3dd64528@7549e36a-4bcb-4a5d-96e2-567d054fd628\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/events.teams.microsoft.com\/event\/063da2cf-9708-4184-acbf-b7cc3dd64528@7549e36a-4bcb-4a5d-96e2-567d054fd628\">on this page <\/a>to register for the event<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ETT took part in the final conference of the European project NAUTILOS on 19 May 2025 at the Escola do Mar dos A\u00e7ores in Horta, Portugal.
