Genoa, December 14, 2024<\/strong> \u2013 The August 14, 2018 Memorial <\/em><\/strong>was officially inaugurated at the site of the former Pier 9 of the Morandi Bridge<\/strong>, a symbolic location dedicated to preserving the memory of the 43 victims of the bridge collapse and offering a space for collective reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Memorial, brought to life through the collaboration between the Committee of Victims\u2019 Families<\/strong> and the Municipality of Geno<\/strong>a, stands as a blend of remembrance, documentation, and a commitment to fostering a more conscious future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed as an immersive and informative experience<\/strong>, the Memorial takes visitors on a journey that intertwines historical narrative, personal reflection, and collective memory. The exhibition\u2019s carefully curated elements guide visitors through the construction of the bridge, the tragic collapse, the heroic efforts of first responders, the widespread media coverage, the impact on local communities, the ongoing legal proceedings, and, most importantly, the remembrance of each victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As visitors proceed toward the Bioclimatic Greenhouse<\/strong>, accompanied by the evocative music of composer Remo Anzovino<\/strong>, they are immersed in a profound sense of regeneration and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every day at 11:36 AM<\/strong>, all multimedia installations pause momentarily to display original footage of the collapse on a unified screen. This daily gesture, a symbolic gift from ETT to the Committee of Victims\u2019 Families and the city of Genoa<\/strong>, invites visitors to stop, reflect, and remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The August 14, 2018 Memorial<\/em> is more than a physical space\u2014it is a call to action, a commitment to remembrance, and a testament to active citizenship. With this new institution, the city of Genoa\u2014and specifically the Certosa <\/strong>neighborhood\u2014aims to establish a vital landmark, a cornerstone for urban, cultural, and human regeneration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Memorial is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM, and on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission is free.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
