On 2 December, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) in Brussels<\/strong> will host the inaugural event of ECoSS (European Catalogue of Sound Signatures)<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, a key event for experts in marine research, ocean conservation policies and innovative acoustic technologies. During the event, the advanced technologies developed by the project, such as the Catalogue and the Sound Classifier, will be presented, and there will be space for direct discussions with key stakeholders and specialists in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ECoSS <\/strong>project aims to create an Open Source Database of audio tracks to classify underwater sounds of anthropogenic origin<\/strong>, detected in EU territorial waters and exclusive economic zones. Through the use of artificial intelligence<\/a> algorithms, ECoSS will be able to manage and analyse complex data and metadata, improving the accuracy of sound source attribution in future recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This centralised infrastructure will provide a single access point<\/strong> for retrieval and consultation of marine acoustic data, building on existing databases and additional recordings from the EU shallow waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ETT<\/strong>, as Technical Co-ordinator of ECoSS, plays an essential role in all phases of the project: from the analysis of existing repositories and the selection of common storage formats to the design of the IT system for data management and dissemination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
