From September 23 to 25, <\/strong>Antonio Novellino, R&D Manager in Smart & Sustainable Cities, along with R&D Project Managers Mariaclaudia Paolini, Rachele Bordoni, and Alessandro Guida, will be attending the Annual Project Meeting <\/strong><\/em>of the OCEAN:ICE project <\/strong>(Ocean Cryosphere Exchanges in ANtarctica: Impacts on Climate and the Earth System) at the Danish Meteorological Institute in Copenhagen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project partners have gathered to discuss the progress made, the current status of activities, and the project’s objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OCEAN:ICE<\/a> is a Horizon Europe initiative funded by the European Commission, officially launched on November 1, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project’s primary focus is to assess the impact of climate change on Earth <\/strong>by studying environmental mechanisms occurring in the Southern Ocean<\/strong>. This region, along with the polar areas, provides crucial insights, as oceans play a key role in heat and carbon dioxide exchanges. Meanwhile, in polar regions, the interactions between air, water, and ice influence\u2014and are influenced by\u2014global climate dynamics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the project, data on sea level rise, deep water formation, ocean current circulation, and climate patterns are being analyzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ETT plays a pivotal role with intercontinental implications, as it manages the flow of this information, ensuring its accessibility, usability, and reusability according to international standards. This enables key European and global monitoring and data collection systems\u2014such as EMODnet<\/a>, Copernicus Marine Service<\/a> and SOOS \u2014to access and integrate these critical datasets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
